De begeleide Glidernatuurwandeling voert langs historische plaatsen rondom Wolfheze waar op 17 september 1944 rond de 600 Gliders zijn geland na een verwoestend bombardement op het dorp Wolfheze.

De 6 kilometer route voert langs de duiker onder het spoor, ontsnappingsroute richting Oosterbeek en Rijn. Het voormalig bommenlijntje waarover de Duitsers materieel vervoerden richting luchtmachtbasis Deelen en Landingszone S op natuurgebied Reijerscamp. Daar staat ook een monument voor Lt. David Lord, die neerstortte met zijn vliegtuig. Hij ontving vanwege zijn heldenmoed het Victoriacross.

De 11 km voert nog verder over landingszone X en de Boschhoeve waar zwaar is gevochten. ook gaat de route over de begraafplaats in Wolfheze waar twee monumenten staan ter nagedachtenis aan het bombardement op het dorp.

Start is op het Dorsplein in Wolfheze. De woensdagwandeling begint om 18.30 uur, de zondagwandeling om 13.00 uur.

Je betaalt minimaal € 2,00 voor deelname, maar geeft wat je het waard vond. Een drankje aan het einde is inbegrepen. Graag contant aan het einde te voldoen. Inschrijven gewenst.
